On Tuesday, August 10, 2021, the leadership of Prairie Grove First United Methodist Church were made aware that Appleseed Academy, the daycare that has been working in and renting space in our building, was going out of business permanently. PGFUMC has greatly enjoyed the partnership that we have had with Appleseed and were disappointed to learn of the dissolution of their business. We understand that this was a complicated decision for the owners and one that was not taken lightly.
While we are saddened by the closure of Appleseed, this does bring an opportunity for the space to open to another entity that can provide childcare services in our building. Childcare is a vital need in our community and the fact that Appleseed was filled at maximum capacity and had a waitlist of over 50 families was indicative of that. PGFUMC would like to find a new partner to lease the space to, in order to provide for this critical need in our area.
Our church has a high-capacity kitchen, several classrooms, separate toddler and nursery rooms, bathrooms with adult and children’s fixtures, a breakroom, an office space, a playground, a pavilion, and parking facilities. The church and its facilities have been evaluated and inspected by the appropriate state departments to make sure it is up to code to be used as a childcare facility and would work with a new tenant on any reinspection that may need to occur.
Any party that would be interested in leasing space with the church would need to be interviewed and vetted to make sure that our space is appropriate and that the partnership would make sense for both parties. The selected partner would be expected to enter into a Space and Equipment Use Agreement.
